Dan Da Dan Reveals Episode 2 Preview

DAN DA DAN revealed the preview video and images for Episode 2, which is set to premiere on October 10. Studio Science SARU is animating, and the anime made a strong premiere last week. It is is streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The upcoming episode is titled “That’s a Space Alien, Ain’t It?!” and you can check out the preview video below.

The official website describes the story for the second episode:
Okarun, cursed by the Turbo Granny, and Momo, who uses her newly awakened psychic powers to contain the Turbo Granny’s rampage, find themselves in a dire situation. As dawn breaks, the two temporarily take refuge at Momo’s house, but removing the talisman from the torii gate brings misfortune, and a giant alien known as the “Flatwoods Monster” appears before them. Faced with a new crisis, Okarun makes a certain proposal to Momo.

Fuga Yamashiro is directing the DAN DA DAN anime adaptation, with Hiroshi Seko in charge of the series composition and Naoyuki Onda as the character designer. The main Japanese voice cast consists of:

  • Shion Wakayama as Momo Ayase
  • Natsuki Hanae as Ken Okarun Takakura
  • Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo-Granny
  • Kazuya Nakai as Serpoian Alien

DAN DA DAN anime is based on the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, which began serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service in 2021. Volume 16 of the manga released in Japan on October 4.

The story follows a high school girl Momo and her classmate Okarun. Momo comes from a family of spirit mediums, while Okarun is a follower of the occult. They both deny each other’s beliefs and set up a challenge to prove it: Momo has to go to an abandonded hospital, while Okarun goes to a haunter tunnel. With both of them turning out to be right, they end up embarking on an adventure riddled with the paranormal.

We had to chance to interview both the Japanese and English voice cast members. From the Japanese cast, we spoke with Shion Wakayama, the voice of Momo. Also present was the show’s director Fuga Yamashiro. As for the English one, we spoke to both Abby Trott and AJ Beckles, who voice Momo and Okarun, respectively.
