The Gintama spin-off anime, Class 3-Z’s Ginpachi-sensei, revealed a ‘super teaser’ trailer and a new visual, as well as an October 2025 release date. Studio Bandai Namco Pictures will be animating the spin-off novel by Tomohito Osaki, with Makoto Moriwaki as chief director and Natsumi Higashida as director.
The trailer is narrated by the main trio of Gintoki, Kagura and Shinpachi. Their voice cast is returning and includes:
- Tomokazu Sugita as Gintoki Sakata
- Rie Kugimiya as Kagura
- Daisuke Sakaguchi as Shinpachi Shimura
The anime staff for Class 3-Z’s Ginpachi-sensei also includes Kazuyuki Fudeyasu as the character designer, Shinji Takeuchi as the chief animation director, and Audio Highs handling the music. The anime previously confirmed a 2025 premiere with an initial teaser.
Tomohito Osaki began the spin-off novel in 2006, with the final volume, Volume 8, releasing in 2018. Hidekaki Sorachi wrote and illustrated the original Gintama manga, which first ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003 to 2018, and then in their Jump Giga until February 2019.
The Gintama was animated by Sunrise until Season 4, which is when Bandai Namco Pictures took over. The anime has a total of 367 episodes, as well as numerous OVAs, movies, games, novels and specials. The latest installment was the Gintama: The Very Final movie, which premiered in 2021.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English as Gin Tama, while Crunchyroll is streaming the anime. The story follows Gintoki Sakata, a legendary samurai with a sweet tooth who is now handling odd jobs. Together with his new friends, he has plenty of wacky adventures while also having to deal with his past and saving the world on the side.
