Oshi No Ko Live-Action Releases a New Trailer

The Oshi no Ko live-action drama revealed a new trailer today. The announcement follows the conclusion of the TV anime’s stunning second season and the announcement of the third season. The live-action prologue will be globally available as an exclusive on Amazon Prime starting on November 28 while the movie version will premiere in Japan on December 20, 2024.

The live-action cast previously received individual trailers, and the members include:

  • Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino
  • Kaito Sakurai as teenage Aqua Hoshino (Haru Iwakawa as young Aqua)
  • Nagisa Saito as teenage Ruby Hoshino (Yuna Saito as young Ruby)
  • Ano as Mem-cho
  • Kana Kurashina as Miyako Saitou
  • Mizuki Kayashima as Akane Kurokawa
  • Ryo Narita as Gorou Amamiya
  • Raizumi Inagaki as Sarina Tendouji

Toei Animation and Amazon Prime are producing the project. Smith, known for his work on Inside Mari and I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die will direct the live-action with assistance from Hana Matsumoto. Fox Capture Plan will provide the musical arrangement for the show. The production is based on the manga series by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War). Doga Kobo (Asteroid in Love, Sing Yesterday for Me) animated both seasons of the anime.

What’s Oshi no Ko about?

Oshi no Ko tells the story of Gorou Amamiya, a rural hospital gynecologist who ends up as the attending doctor to his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino. But while he promises to be with her until her delivery, the dark underbelly of the entertainment business is far deeper than Dr. Gorou could possibly understand. And because of this darkness, he meets his end when a crazed Ai fan kills him. To his surprise, he gets a second chance at life when he is reborn as one of Ai’s twins.

The Hoshino family initially basks in joyful days, but their happiness shatters when Ai is murdered. A murder witnessed by the reincarnated Dr. Gorou propels him onto a lifelong path of revenge. Since 2020, Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump has serialized Oshi no Ko manga, which has released 15 volumes. HIDIVE is streaming the anime adaptation.
