The Quintessential Quintuplets Special 2 anime, covering the Honeymoon arc, revealed a long version of its trailer. Prior to releasing for TV, the special began its limited 3-week limited release in Japanese theaters on September 20, with the last one coming on October 4. They previously revealed a new visual and short trailer. Bibury Animation Studios handled the animation, with Masato Jimbo as the director/head writer.
The trailer features the opening theme song “The Quintessential Smiles” and ending theme song “Memories,” both of which are performed by the Nakano sisters.
The new project was announced at a special event celebrating the show’s 5th anniversary, and it will cover the events set after the wedding and Futaro’s honeymoon. All the cast are now adults, and they go to Hawaii for a vacation that doubles as a honeymoon. The author of the manga, Negi Haruba, wrote the story and supervised the project. Several Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei, and Thailand, will also get theatrical screenings for the special.
The main voice cast is all reprising their roles:
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Futaro Uesugi
- Kana Hanazawa as Ichika Nakano
- Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano
- Miku Ito as Miku Nakano
- Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba Nakano
- Inori Minase as Itsuki Nakano
The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime adaptation aired from January to March 2019 and was animated by Tezuka Productions. Bibury Animation Studios took over for the 2nd season, which premiered in 2021, and they also animated the final movie. SHAFT animated the first TV special, which premiered theatrically in Japan in September 2023.
Kodansha licensed the manga, while Crunchyroll streams the anime.
